Terms & Conditions
1. Payment for Lessons and Courses
Fees for lessons must be received by Language Elevator at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson commences. Full payment for any discounted block of lessons must (also) be received at least 24 hours before the first lesson commences.
All fees must be paid in $NZ into the bank account of Language Elevator Limited unless an alternative payment method has been agreed on beforehand between the student and Language Elevator.
2. Lesson Cancellation
If the student cancels a lesson within 24 hours (but not less than 4 hours) of the lesson commencing, they are not entitled to a refund. However, they can reschedule the lesson to another time mutually acceptable to the student and the teacher. If the student cancels a lesson less than 4 hours before the lesson commences, the lesson fee is not refundable nor can the lesson be rescheduled unless agreed to by the teacher in certain circumstances.
If the teacher cancels a lesson within 24 hours (but not less than 4 hours) of the lesson commencing, the student is entitled to their choice of a refund OR rescheduling of the lesson to another time mutually acceptable to the student and the teacher. If the teacher cancels less than 4 hours before the lesson commences, the student is entitled to a full refund AND a free rescheduled lesson of 1 hour.
If the student is doing a prepaid block of lessons, the same conditions apply regarding lesson cancellation. In addition the student must still complete the block of lessons before the specified period agreed to before the block of lessons commenced.
3. Refund of a Block of Lessons course fee
If a block of lessons (for example, 10 hours of Conversation Lessons) has been booked and prepaid for, these lessons can be cancelled at any stage with at least 48 hours notice before the next scheduled lesson. The remaining lessons in the block will be refunded on the basis as if the completed lessons were charged at the full, non-discounted rate. Normally, the fee for a block of lessons is charged with a 10% to 15% discount applied to the hourly lesson fee. If a student cancels prior to the completion of the block of lessons, they will no longer be entitled to that discount.
4. Technical Issues
In the unlikely event that there is a significant technical communication issue during an online lesson such as loss of audio or poor quality audio and this affects more than 20% of a lesson, the student will be entitled to an extra lesson of the same duration for no extra fee at a mutually agreed time.
5. Scheduling Guidelines
At the commencement of lessons, a suitable weekly time slot (or slots) will be established between the teacher and student. However, to provide flexibility, students are able to reschedule lessons or change the time and/or day subject to the teacher's availability. Please note that this must be done with sufficient notice (see above 'Lesson Cancellation').
Lessons are available during the following times:
Monday 10am to 10pm
Tuesday 8am to 10pm
Wednesday 7am to 7pm
Thursday 7am to 5pm
Friday 8am to 2pm
Alternative times can be made available in certain circumstances.
